Your Most Relaxed Dental Appointment Ever
Dental anxiety is very common. By some estimates, nearly a third of people in the United States experience some level of uneasiness, nervousness, or even outright panic at the thought of seeing the dentist. And that anxiety unnecessarily keeps far too many people from getting the dental care they want and need. At Ned W. Windmiller Distinctive Dentistry in Stillwater, MN we’re proud to offer two options for dental sedation to help you have your most relaxed dental appointment ever.
It’s A Team Effort
Your comfort during your visits is one of our top priorities. Every member of our staff will go out of their way to help you relax. You’ll be as fully informed as you want about every step of your procedure. Feel free to ask questions or voice any concerns you might have.
You can also choose from our menu of comfort options, including:
- Kovanaze® Needle-Free Anesthesia : Forget the needle. We can ensure that you’re comfortably numb with a nasal spray.
- Headphones: Relax and enjoy your favorite music while we care for you.
- Warm Blankets : Whether you’re easily chilled or just enjoy the comfort, we’ll be happy to provide a warm blanket.
- Massage Chairs : No, seriously. Enjoy a relaxing massage while we care for your teeth.
For those who need more help relaxing, we provide two dental sedation options for your comfort.
You probably know this as “laughing gas” as it causes some people to become giddy. Inhaled sedation has been used safely for nearly 100 years, and it’s even FDA-approved for use with children! Since the gas/air mixture is inhaled, it takes effect within seconds, and we can adjust the level for your comfort to get you to a calm, relaxed, unconcerned state of mind.
The effects of inhaled sedation wear off very quickly, so you can safely drive yourself after your appointment.
Oral Conscious Sedation
This form of sedation is a small pill that Dr. Windmiller will prescribe for you. You take the pill at a predetermined time before your appointment. You’ll arrive at our Stillwater, MN dental office already relaxed. You may or may not remember much about your dental appointment –which some people prefer!
Be sure to have someone drive you to and from your appointment. The effects of oral conscious sedation should kick in before you arrive, and they may linger after your appointment. Driving while sedated is an enormously bad idea and we want you to stay safe.
